What is SAAC?
“A Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives. There is a SAAC at the institution, conference and national levels. Presently, there are separate national SAACs for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their respective campuses. Further, NCAA legislation requires that all member conferences have SAACs.”
Thomas College Definition
The Thomas College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (TC-SAAC) will serve as a liaison between Thomas College student-athletes and athletic administration and faculty/staff, fostering communication between all groups. SAAC also takes place at the conference level and has a presence and a vote at the national level. Further, our SAAC group members are expected to be leaders on and off the field, around campus, and to give back through community service.
“The NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) strives to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity for all student athletes; protecting student- athlete well-being; and fostering a positive student-athlete image, while maintaining the tenants of the Division III philosophy.”
The mission of the Thomas College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to bridge the gap between student athletes and the Thomas College community while simultaneously giving our teams a voice within the NAC and NCAA as a whole. Our main focus is to create a cohesive community that encourages participation, attendance, and a sense of school pride. Our members are given the tools to become more effective leaders, more involved community members, and unite all student athletes by putting us in a position to advocate for ourselves and each other.
The TC-SAAC group thrives to create a community among all of Thomas’s students, athletes, and faculty/staff.
