BSB: Terriers Defeat UMF and NVU-Lyndon to Advance to NAC Final

BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team defeated UMaine-Farmington and Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Saturday to advance to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament Final on Sunday.

NAC TOURNAMENT GAME 3: UMaine-Farmington 3, Thomas 6

The Beavers got an early lead in the top of the first, but Thomas answered with two in the bottom of the inning to go up 2-1. Tyler Gee (Falmouth, Maine) knocked an RBI double then came in to score on a fielder's choice to give Thomas the lead.

UMF tied it back up in the top of the third, then took the lead back when they plated one in the top of the sixth. John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) made it 3-3 when he singled in a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Thomas took the lead back for good in the eighth with a two-run single by Dominic Esposito followed by an RBI hit by Adam Berger (Dracut, Mass.) to give Thomas the 6-3 victory.

Quinton Stebbins (Farmingdale, Maine) earned the win in relief for Thomas, pitching 3.2 scoreless innings while allowing two hits.

NAC TOURNAMENT GAME 5: NVU-Lyndon 2, Thomas 3

After a scoreless three and a half innings, the Terriers broke up the scoring in the bottom of the third, plating three runs to go up 3-0. Connor Rittenhouse (Dover, N.H.) scored on an error, followed by Esposito coming in on a wild pitch. Alexander Miller (Brandon, Florida) drove in the third Thomas run with a single to right.

Lyndon got one back in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to head in to the ninth down 3-1. The Hornets loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth and scored one on a wild pitch, but the Terriers closed the door and forced a flyout to end it with the 3-2 victory.

Ryan Scepansky (Blandon, Pa.) eanred the win going 8.2 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits. Darren Kelly (Foxboro, Mass.) earned the save, getting the final out in the ninth for the Terriers.

Thomas will take on No. 1 Husson on Sunday, May 5 in Game 6 of the NAC Tournament at 12:00 PM. If the Terriers win, they will force a winner-take-all Game 7, which will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 6. Results and a schedule for the tournament are listed below.
